This is my go-to lap for polishing harder stones like spinel, corundum, and chrysoberyl, though I use this lap for stones all the way down to hardness 7 (including quartz). Use this lap with our Voodoo Magic line of polishes.
This lap not recommended for soft stones.
Protips:
This lap is a synthetic ceramic that can, with pressure and speed, cause heat to build very rapidly. This can melt your dop wax, or release your CA or even epoxy, causing your stone to shift or even to fall off the dop. Keep one finger in contact with the stone at all times to monitor for heat build-up – and moderate your speed and pressure.
If the surface of this lap becomes glazed, contaminated, or damaged, you can resurface it yourself by following instructions in this video.
