The following videos were taken during testing and evaluation of both Dreamer and Hyper Edge diamond-resin laps. (And, I’m hereafter going to refer to anything that involves diamonds in resin as “resin-tech laps.)
The primary advantages of resin-tech are (a) less subsurface damage relative to removal rate, and (b) consistent removal rate and finish across the life of the lap. Both of these advantages are relative to diamond-metal-plated laps. With plated laps you get faster removal rate at the cost of greater subsurface damage. And, plated laps change their speed and finish as the lap wears. Due to the stated advantages, resin-tech laps are especially recommended for both the training room and for faceters concerned with production time.
