      Lightside Polishing Lap

      from $78.00

The LIGHTSIDE™ is a specialty lap with a smooth, durable surface and a remarkably low frictional coefficient against the stone to minimize heating effects to make it especially useful for polishing soft and delicate stones such as rhodochrosite, fluorite, apatite, diopside, sphalerite, and strontium titanate (and probably calcite as well). In the past, many people have used wax laps, which usually do not produce crisp meets, and are fragile and easily damaged.

      Corian Lap

This is the Corian lap for which my Voodoo polishes were originally formulated. This is my favorite version of this product.

      BA5T Polishing Lap

      from $122.00

The BA5T special alloy polishing lap is my personal go-to lap for materials harder than Mohs 8. Many people use the BA5T with my Voodoo diamond polishes, or with loose diamond.

      BATT Polishing Lap

      from $82.00

The BATT special alloy polishing lap is one of my favorite laps for materials harder than Mohs 8. Many people use the BATT with my Voodoo diamond polishes, or with loose diamond. I often double-charge these for doing repair work (2 different diamond grits, a prepolish on outer ring and polish on the interior).

      Cast Zinc Polishing Lap

      from $65.00

Zinc is a traditional lap material, and one that works great for a variety of cutting and polishing applications. You can't get better quality laps than those produced by the Gearloose shop.

      Creamway Polishing Lap

      from $78.00

The Creamway™ polishing lap is a Zirconium Oxide/ceramic polymer "Just Add Water" lap. The polymer has further been modified to allow exceptionally high oxide loading. In my opinion, this is currently the most "dummy-proof" of Quartz polishing solutions. It is a good bit slower than using an oxide polish on a lap - but also less sensitive to imperfect technique.

      Custom Copper Polishing Lap

      $175.00

Copper is a traditional lap material, and one that works great for a variety of cutting and polishing applications. You can't get better quality laps than those produced by the Gearloose shop.

      Darkside Polishing Lap

      from $65.00

The DARKSIDE™ is a lightweight lap, made of the specially developed material coated onto an aluminum baseplate.

      Diamatrix Polishing Lap

      from $105.00

The 8" DiaMatrix™ is a toughened, hardened version of the "MATRIX™" ceramic/polymer composite polishing lap that is a superior replacement for ceramic laps. Although recommended for gems hardness 8 and up, I've found it very good for dealing with troublesome Quartz. I recommend this lap, which works especially well with my Voodoo Black Magic polish.

      Dominatrix Polishing Lap

      from $115.00

The 8" Dominatrix™ is a hybrid BATT™ Prepolish/MATRIX™ Polish Lap. I recommend this lap for production cutting and especially for repairs. It works especially well with my Voodoo Black Magic polish.

      Greenway Polishing Lap

      from $78.00

The Greenway™ is a Chrome Oxide Ceramic Polymer Composite lap that requires only water. It is a non-fouling (won't pack cracks) lap that will polish many, many materials. Polish-embedded laps are slower than using oxide polish ON a lap, but they are more "dummy-proof".

      Matrix Polishing Lap

      from $95.00

The "MATRIX™" is a Ceramic Composite polishing with what the creator calls "a self-renewing microtexture and surface complexity that allows better polish retention and a less critical fluid film thickness". He has also called a "Ceramic lap with good manners". I have used my copy on several different stones using it with 50k Diamond Voodoo polish. It is possible that it will become my favorite polishing lap...

      Redwing Polishing Lap

      $285.00

The Redwing polishing lap is a dual-material lap for advanced faceters. I find it particularly useful for repair work, and especially on Sapphires. The outer ring is copper, and the inner ring is BATT material. Charge the outer ring with a pre-polish size diamond (I use 3k), and charge the inner ring with a polish grade (I use 50k). You can pre-polish a facet and then polish it with zero mast height adjustment.

      Skyway Polishing Lap

      $165.00

The Skyway™ is a refractory alloy ceramic/polymer composite polishing lap. It is made on a full-thickness aluminum base, and machined on both sides for flatness. The Skyway is an aggressive and fast polishing lap for the feldspars, peridot, beryls, quartzes, (and especially the noncrystalline species like opal), garnets, tourmaline, tanzanite. Spinel, topaz, and zircon polish faster on the Skyway when "boosted" with a little alumina.
